Fields of Industrial Ecology

The Helsinki Symposium concentrates on the fields of industrial ecology, material flows and earth systems engineering. Especially the following areas are relevant for this symposium and form the sessions: 1. waste-to-product developments 2. earth systems engineering 3. input-output methods in industrial ecology 4. product life cycle ecology 5. industrial ecology in the pulp and paper industry 6. dynamic modelling of material and energy fluxes 7. integration of processes within and across firms 8. regional industrial ecology schemes Researchers, experts, practicioners and government representatives from the above thematic fields are invited to discuss current issues and to present new trends and research findings. Hopefully by an informal exchange of ideas and stimulating dialogue new viewpoints to this complex and highly current debate can be presented.
